FREEDOM PLAINS – The Arlington Admirals were making their debut in front of the home court crowd Thursday evening but were battling a case of overplaying in the first few minutes of the game. Turnovers and a lack of scoring gave North Rockland a quick lead, but thanks to a big second half and double digit scoring from Jake Weinstein, Chris Schofield, and Avery Mirsh the Admirals stayed unbeaten with a 56-49 win over the Red Raiders.
North Rockland led 12-9 after the first quarter and 25-18 at halftime, but Arlington came out and shot 76% from the field in the second half, as opposed to just 26.5% from the field in the first half.
Arlington senior Jake Weinstein led the way with 15 points. Teammates Chris Schofield and Avery Wirsch had 11 and 10 points, respectively.
Arlington hosts Ossining Wednesday at 6 p.m. North Rockland is also home on Wednesday playing Clarsktown North in the Red Raiders first league game of the season. North Rockland comes back to Dutchess County on Friday to face Our Lady of Lourdes.
