Newburgh Football Makes it Five in a Row

KINGSTON – The Newburgh Goldbacks football team beat Monroe-Woodbury Saturday, 20-9 for the school’s fifth straight Class AA Sectional championship.

Newburgh running back Gianni Hill had 192 yards on 31 carriers and 1 TD. Terry Anderson caught a Derek Lane TD pass, and Kameren Hill recovered a fumble for a 25 yard touchdown.

Monroe-Woodbury took a second quarter lead when Mike Bolye hit a 26 yard field goal. Newburgh came back with two scores before the Crusaders found the end zone in the 3rd quarter when Dylan Wynn took the ball in from the two yard line after completing runs of 32 and 10 yards.

These two teams met during the regular season, two weeks ago, with Newburgh coming out on top in a much closer 21-17 thriller.

The Goldbacks will take on Section 1 Class AA champ New Rochelle on Saturday at Mahopac high school,
