Arlington Fails to Score in Regional First Round Game

FREEDOM PLAINS – Different head coach, different year, same result. History repeated itself Wednesday evening as the Arlington girls soccer team fell to Monroe Woodbury 1-0 in the regional quarterfinals of the state soccer tournament, just as they did a year ago.

While the Admirals came out with more intensity then their opponent, in the first half of the game, Monroe Woodbury matched that intensity and scored the lone goal in the second half for the right to move on to the next round of play in the post season state tournament.

Colleen Kinsella scored the game winner in the 62nd minute of the game.  That goal withstood through the final 18 minutes, including an Admiral penalty kick,  handing Arlington its first loss of the season.

Arlington’s season ends at 17-1-1, League champs and Section 1 Class AA Champs for a third straight year.

Monroe Woodbury will play Section 4 champ, Ithaca on Saturday.
